The Counterpoint Philosophy
Like musical counterpoint, gifted children often develop along independent, overlapping lines at varying speeds. We call this asynchronous development. We provide a boutique space where these complex young minds find intellectual peers to explore big ideas and build genuine connections.
A Rare Blend of Educational and Assessment Expertise
Counterpoint was founded by Kim Carroll Boham, an educator who has been supporting gifted, advanced, and twice-exceptional learners since 1991.
Drawing on extensive high ability classroom experience, curriculum development, enrichment programming, and over 15 years of specialized psychometric assessment work with gifted learners, Counterpoint offers a perspective that is both practical and deeply informed.
This unique combination allows learning experiences and future educational guidance to be shaped by a nuanced understanding of how gifted children think, learn, develop, and engage with the world—not just in theory, but in real educational settings.
Our Services
Boutique support designed for curious minds and the families that guide them. From our hands-on studio to expert consultation, we turn potential into adventure.
Enrichment Studio
Registration is Open! A home-based enrichment studio launching this summer. Limited enrollment means personal attention, so children feel seen and can connect with peers and with our experts through math circles, STEAM projects, book clubs, critical thinking labs, and more. Each session is intentionally small and thoughtfully curated, with a select number of offerings while the studio grows.
Assessment Support
In Development: Expert assessment services to help you understand your child’s unique potential. This future testing service, paired with a collective of trusted specialists who can step in when results point to a need for deeper evaluation or added support—so your child’s next steps are clear, coordinated, and thoughtfully planned.”
Educational Consulting
Coming in the future: We provide bespoke roadmaps for families, offering deep clarity on assessment results and school placements. Our expert advocacy ensures your child's needs are met, from customized enrichment planning to specialized support for twice-exceptional (2e) learners navigating both high potential and learning differences.
